Borgo Molino from Roncadelle – Authentic Wines from Veneto with Origin and Character

Borgo Molino stands for Italian wine culture in its finest form: shaped by tradition, innovation, and a deep understanding of the terroir. As a merchant of selected wines from this renowned estate, we present to you a collection that reflects the essence of Veneto. The wines of Borgo Molino combine origin, craftsmanship, and modern oenology into a distinctive enjoyment profile that delights both connoisseurs and newcomers.

The History of Borgo Molino – Wine Tradition Lived Since 1922

The Borgo Molino winery was founded in 1922 and has since been closely connected with the Veneto region. It was established by the Nardin family, who still manage the estate today. Over several generations, knowledge about viticulture has been passed down and continuously refined.

What began as a small family business has developed over the decades into a modern winery of international significance. Nevertheless, the philosophy has remained unchanged: quality is created in the vineyard – and that is precisely where every decision at Borgo Molino begins.

The development of the winery is characterized by a clear view toward the future. Early on, the Nardin family recognized that sustainable success is only possible through innovation and adaptability. This vision still guides Borgo Molino today and makes the winery a dynamic player in Italian viticulture.

The People Behind Borgo Molino – Family, Expertise, and Passion

At the heart of Borgo Molino is the Nardin family, now running the estate in its third generation. Sergio Nardin embodies experience and passion, particularly in working with Glera, the grape variety typical for Prosecco.

His sons Paolo and Pietro continue the work: Paolo, as oenologist, is responsible for production, while Pietro coordinates sales activities. The team is supported by the experienced oenologist Andrea Artico, a specialist in Prosecco wines.

This combination of family continuity and professional expertise forms the foundation for the consistently high quality of Borgo Molino’s wines.

The Philosophy of Borgo Molino – Quality Begins in the Vineyard

The philosophy of Borgo Molino is based on a central principle: great wines arise from the perfect interplay of soil, climate, and human skill. Early on, it was recognized that the key to excellent wines lies in the careful observation and tending of the vineyards.

The focus is therefore on a sustainable use of natural resources as well as a deep understanding of the needs of each individual vine. The aim is to produce grapes of the highest quality, which form the basis for characterful wines.

The combination of tradition and modern technology is another key element. Innovative methods are used in a targeted way to preserve the typical character of the grape varieties and to protect the aromas as effectively as possible.

The Growing Area of Borgo Molino – The Marca Trevigiana as a Terroir Treasure

Borgo Molino is located in northeastern Italy in the Veneto region, more precisely in the so-called Marca Trevigiana around the city of Treviso. This area is one of the most important wine regions in Italy and is particularly known for its high-quality Prosecco wines.

Geographical Location – Between the Alps and the Adriatic

The vineyards are situated in the immediate vicinity of the hills of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene, two of the most renowned Prosecco areas. This location offers ideal conditions for viticulture, as it is influenced both by the Alps and by the proximity to the Adriatic.

Climate and Microclimate – Perfect Conditions for Aromatics

The climate in the region is shaped by cool air currents from the Alps and mild influences from the south. In particular, the comparatively cool temperatures in the hills promote the development of complex aromas in the grapes.

Soils and Terroir – Minerality as a Quality Factor

The soils of the vineyards are characterized by a special mineral composition. This diversity of soil structures contributes significantly to the character of the wines and is responsible for their typical elegance and structure.

The Vineyards of Borgo Molino – Diversity Across Around 150 Hectares

The vineyard area of Borgo Molino extends over about 150 hectares of its own vineyards. These are spread across different locations within the region and allow for a targeted selection of the best parcels for each grape variety.

Work in the vineyard is aimed at understanding and optimally utilizing the individual characteristics of each site. In this way, wines with a clear origin and unmistakable character are created.

Grape Varieties at Borgo Molino – Classic, Regional, and International

The winery relies on a well-balanced mix of regionally typical and international grape varieties:

- Glera
- Pinot Grigio
- Chardonnay
- Sauvignon Blanc
- Merlot
- Cabernet Sauvignon
- Raboso
- Ribolla Gialla

Soil Diversity at Borgo Molino – The Basis for Structure and Elegance

The special quality of the wines is based on the mineral diversity of the soils. These offer ideal conditions for different grape varieties and contribute to the complexity of the wines.

Winemaking at Borgo Molino – Modern Technology for Maximum Aromatics

Winemaking at Borgo Molino is carried out using state-of-the-art technologies. A central process is the so-called “Metodo Ganimede”, an innovative fermentation method that is particularly gentle on aromas and preserves the varietal character of the grapes.

Vinification at a Glance

1. Careful selection and processing of the grapes
2. Temperature-controlled fermentation
3. Use of modern fermentation technologies such as Metodo Ganimede
4. Predominantly maturation in stainless steel tanks to preserve freshness
5. Use of the Charmat method for sparkling wines

Maturation and Aging

Most white wines and sparkling wines are matured in stainless steel tanks to preserve freshness and aromatics. Prosecco is produced using the Charmat or Martinotti method, in which the second fermentation takes place in a pressurized tank.

Red wines can also be aged partly in wooden barrels to develop additional structure and complexity.
