Bossi Fedrigotti - Trentino Character

With 40 hectares of vineyards, Conti Bossi Fedrigotti is one of the largest wineries in Trentino. Production is based on the typical grape varieties of the region: Marzemino, Teroldego, Traminer and Pinot Grigio (or Ruländer, as they are called in the region), which are grown alongside the major international varieties:

  • Merlot
  • Cabernet
  • Chardonnay
  • Pinot Noir

Bossi Fedrigotti Vineyards

The vineyards of Bossi Fedrigotti

The Fojaneghe vineyard is particularly prestigious and gives its name to the wine of the same name, which was the first example of a Bordeaux blend in Italy. The 18-hectare vineyard, divided into terraces, is located in the municipalities of Mori and Isera at an altitude of about 300 meters above sea level. It benefits from excellent sun exposure and the Ora breeze that blows in from Lake Garda during the hot afternoons.

The oldest vines are Merlot vines dating back to 1949, from which the first vintage of Fojaneghe was pressed in 1961. The cuttings from these vines have provided the material for the more recent plantings. In addition to the typical Bordeaux varieties Merlot and Cabernet, Teroldego is also grown here. This grape variety has only recently been added to the Fojaneghe blend and gives the wine a "Trentino character".

Bossi Fedrigotti barrels

In the cellar of Bossi Fedrigotti

Maso San Giorgio is home to the aging cellars, which were converted from an old cattle barn. They contain:

  • 1st, 2nd and 3rd layer barriques used for the aging (18 months) of the grapes that go into the blend for Fojaneghe (45% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Franc, 15% Teroldego), as well as part of the Teroldego portion (6 months)
  • large 40hl barrels for the aging of the remaining Teroldego portion (6 months)

Trentodc Riserva is produced in the cellars of Conte Federico. The wine remains on the lees for almost 36 months before being fermented again, which happens about 6 weeks before disgorgement.

In the cellars there are stainless steel tanks of different sizes used for the fermentation of the white and red wines.
