Champagne Laurent-Perrier: A House with History and Vision

Champagne Laurent-Perrier was founded in 1812 by André-Michel Pierlot in Tours-sur-Marne. The village lies in the heart of Champagne and is classified as a Grand Cru. Over the years, the house has developed into one of the most renowned champagne producers, known for innovation and quality.

After its founding by André-Michel Pierlot, his son Alphonse took over the company. As Alphonse had no descendants, the house passed to his cellar master Eugène Laurent. In 1939, Marie-Louise de Nonancourt acquired the house, and her son Bernard de Nonancourt became managing director in 1948. Bernard de Nonancourt shaped the style of Laurent-Perrier with the attributes freshness, elegance, and purity. The house combines traditional methods with modern techniques to produce champagnes of the highest quality. One example is the introduction of stainless-steel tanks in the 1970s to preserve the freshness and aromas of the wines.

Sustainability and Environmental Awareness

Since the 1980s, Laurent-Perrier has been committed to environmental protection. The goal is to cultivate 100% certified vineyards by 2030. In February 2018, the Laurent-Perrier group received the certifications “Sustainable Viticulture in Champagne” (SVC) and “High Environmental Value” (HEV). The company controls its waste production, promotes recycling, and minimizes water, electricity, and gas consumption at its production sites.

Vinification and Blending

Laurent-Perrier places great importance on selecting the best grapes from the 319 villages of Champagne, including 17 Grands Crus and 42 Premiers Crus. Vinification is carried out by parcel in order to preserve the diversity of aromas and terroirs. Sensory-wise, it is characterized by a pale golden robe, a delicate bouquet with notes of fresh citrus fruits and white flowers, and a perfect balance between freshness and finesse.

Grand Siècle

Grand Siècle is Laurent-Perrier’s prestige cuvée. It is based on the blending of three exceptional vintages in order to create the perfect year. Iteration No. 26 consists of the vintages 2012 (65%), 2008 (25%), and 2007 (10%). The grape varieties are 58% Chardonnay from Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Oger, Cramant, Avize and 42% Pinot Noir from Tours-sur-Marne, Ambonnay, Bouzy, Verzy. The maturation time is 10 years.

Cuvée Rosé

The Cuvée Rosé has been produced since 1968 and consists of 100% Pinot Noir. The grapes come from 10 different crus in the Montagne de Reims. Maceration lasts 48 to 72 hours to achieve incomparable aromatics. The maturation time is at least 5 years. Sensory-wise, it offers a clear bouquet of extraordinary freshness and a wide range of red fruits, along with a smooth and rounded taste.

Alexandra Rosé Millésimé

Alexandra Rosé Millésimé is a rare vintage rosé originating from a strict selection of the best parcels in Champagne. The grape varieties are 80% Pinot Noir from Ambonnay, Bouzy, Mailly, Verzenay and 20% Chardonnay from Avize, Cramant, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger. The maturation time is 10 years.
