More information about Chateau Odilon - Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite)
The barrel-aged Chateau Odilon from the Bordeaux wine-growing region presents itself in the glass in a bright purple-red. When slightly tilted, the wine glass reveals a charming garnet-red hue at the rims. After the first swirl, this red wine displays a first-class balance, as it neither appears watery nor syrupy or liqueur-like on the sides of the glass. With a little time in the glass, this Old World red wine reveals wonderfully expressive aromas of black cherry, mulberry, blackcurrant and blackberry, rounded off by gingerbread spice, dark chocolate and cinnamon contributed by the barrel aging.
The Chateau Odilon from Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) is a good choice for all wine lovers who prefer it dry. At the same time, it never appears lean or austere, as one would naturally expect from a premium and single-vineyard wine. Balanced and complex, this dense red wine presents itself on the palate. Thanks to the balanced acidity, Chateau Odilon caresses the palate with a velvety feel, without lacking juicy liveliness. On the finish, this matured red wine from the Bordeaux wine-growing region finally delights with extraordinary length. Once again, nuances of blackcurrant and plum emerge.
Vinification of Chateau Odilon from Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite)
The basis for the first-class and wonderfully balanced Chateau Odilon cuvée from Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) are Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot grapes. Chateau Odilon is a thoroughbred Old World wine, as this French wine exudes an exceptional European charm that clearly underscores the success of wines from the Old World. At optimal ripeness, the grapes for Chateau Odilon are harvested exclusively by hand, without the use of coarse, less selective machinery. After harvesting, the grapes are brought to the winery as quickly as possible. There they are sorted and gently crushed. This is followed by fermentation in large wooden vats at controlled temperatures. After fermentation, the wine is aged for several months in French oak barrels.
