More information about Starting Blocks Chenin Blanc - Simonsig

The Chenin Blanc of Simonsig is the white flagship wine of the winery. It appears in a clear straw yellow with greenish reflections in the glass. Its aroma is characterized by the powerful scent of fully ripe apricots, passion fruit, watermelon, guava and pears.

On the palate, the Simonsig Chenin Blanc shows a beautiful melting and delicate, well-integrated acidity, as well as a nice harmony between sugar and alcohol.

Vinification of the Simonsig Chenin Blanc

Aged in stainless steel tanks, Chenin Blanc is the first white wine made by Simonsig's founder, Frans Malan, in 1968. The grapes for the Chenin Blanc are harvested by hand, partially pressed and macerated overnight with skin contact. The wine is then fermented in stainless steel tanks with special pure yeasts.

Food Pairing / Food Recommendation for the Chenin Blanc from Simonsig

This white wine from Stellenbosch perfectly accompanies Indian and East Asian dishes, poultry and spicy Latin American dishes.
