In the south of the Italian municipality of Montalcino lies the winery of Collosorbo, the Tenuta di Collosorbo. The traditional family business has existed in Tuscany since 1850.
Tenuta di Collosorbo - Italian women power
One of the best wines in Italy is bottled here: Brunello di Montalcino. It was produced for the first time at Tenuta di Collosorbo in 1966 by Guiseppe Ciacci. In 1955, as part of an inheritance, the estate was spun off and passed to Giovanna Ciacci. She runs the company with the support of oenologist Laura Sutera Sardo Lucia Sutera Sardo and delights with red wines that meet the highest standards.

Devoted to wine
The winery is also among the most famous in Italy. This is due not least to the women power, traditional awareness, and extensive expertise. On a total of 27 hectares, traditional grape varieties are cultivated that are responsible for the noble taste of Brunello di Montalcino and Rosso di Montalcino. The slopes range from 200 to 400 meters in height and are still largely tended by hand. Tenuta di Collosorbo avoids the use of machinery as far as possible so that the grapes are treated gently. Three women are responsible for ensuring the utmost care is devoted to the wines, as they live for their wines AND their region.

The two stars of Tenuta Di Collosorbo
The red wine Brunello di Montalcino impresses with its cherry, cassis, and herbal aromas. It is not only a great red wine, but by now also a legend. Wine experts are enthusiastic about its outstanding quality and award the highest scores when rating the wines. The same applies to the powerful red wine Rosso di Montalcino from Tenuta di Collosorbo. The particularly delicate fruit aromas and the strong flavor are very similar to Brunello, since the same grape variety is used for its production. However, here the younger vines of the native grape variety Sangiovese Grosso are allowed to show what they can do. They mature in young oak tanks, present an impressive ruby red in the glass, and exude an aroma of cherries, wild berries, and even a hint of chocolate.
