The winery Cordero di Montezemolo has a history that began as early as 1340.

A family business for centuries - Cordero di Montezemolo

Although several centuries have passed, the winery has always remained in family ownership. The first documented mention of viticulture dates back about 200 years. Today, the winery is run by Giovanni Cordero di Montezemolo, who forms a successful team with his children Elena and Alberto. Not only he, but also his ancestors have always made sure to carry out their work in the spirit of nature conservation. For example, only fertilizers of natural and mineral origin are used. All the effort pays off, as the first-class wines are regularly honored with international, high-ranking awards and prizes.

Sun-kissed grapes

The vineyards of Cordero di Montezemolo stretch over gentle green hills across an area of around 38 hectares in the small municipality of La Morra in Piedmont. In the immediate vicinity you can find the prestigious towns of Barolo and Alba. The soils of these prime vineyard sites consist mainly of sandstone and lime-rich marl. The area is characterized by a temperate continental climate and is blessed with many hours of sunshine. For each grape variety, the most suitable soil composition and exposure to the sun are selected before planting in order to guarantee an optimal result. The following grape varieties are cultivated:

  • Arneis
  • Barbera
  • Dolcetto
  • Nebbiolo
  • Chardonnay

Cordero di Montezemolo wines

Particularly noteworthy is...

...clearly the excellent red wine Enrico VI Barolo, which has already been awarded the coveted three glasses by Gambero Rosso several times. It is produced exclusively from Nebbiolo grapes grown on the historic vineyard of only 2 hectares. This wine is allowed to mature for 20 months in French oak barrels, for example. The high-caliber Barolo shines with a garnet-red color and indulges the nose with aromas of eucalyptus, licorice, and cinnamon. The finish of this powerful and complex wine from the Cordero di Montezemolo winery seems almost endless. But not only Enrico VI Barolo, also the other outstanding red and white wines from Cordero di Montezemolo are clearly worth recommending and are appreciated for their fine character.
