More information about Bon Vallon Chardonnay - De Wetshof Estate

The Bon Vallon Chardonnay from the Breede River Valley winegrowing region shows a dense golden yellow color in the glass. Poured into a white wine glass, this white wine from South Africa shows wonderfully expressive aromas of kumquat, nashi pear, lemongrass and grapefruit, rounded off by sun-warmed rocks and forest floor.

This dry white wine from De Wetshof Estate is for wine connoisseurs who prefer to drink bone dry. The Bon Vallon Chardonnay already comes quite close to this, as it was pressed with just 1.5 grams of residual sugar. Due to its concise fruit acidity, the Bon Vallon Chardonnay is exceptionally fresh and lively on the palate. The finale of this youthful white wine from the Breede River Valley wine-growing region, more precisely from Robertson, finally convinces with good reverberation. The finish is also accompanied by mineral hints of the soils dominated by limestone and clay.

Vinification of the De Wetshof Estate Bon Vallon Chardonnay

The basis for the powerful Bon Vallon Chardonnay from Breede River Valley are grapes from the Chardonnay grape variety. In the Breede River Valley, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on soils of clay and limestone. After the grape harvest, the grapes are immediately sent to the winery. Here they are selected and carefully crushed. Fermentation follows in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. Vinification is followed by aging on the fine lees for several months before the wine is finally bottled.

Food recommendation for the De Wetshof Estate Bon Vallon Chardonnay

Drink this white wine from South Africa ideally well chilled at 8 - 10°C as a companion to chickpea curry, vegetable stew with pesto or spinach gratin with almonds.
