More information about Delheim Pinotage Rosé - Delheim
The Delheim Pinotage Rosé - Delheim shines in the glass in a bright, luminous salmon pink with delicate copper-colored reflections. The color appears inviting and elegant and already hints at the aromatic abundance. On the nose, an intense, very clear bouquet unfolds with ripe red fruit and fine floral nuances.
Fresh raspberries, sour cherries, cranberries, and wild strawberries meet hints of pink grapefruit and blood orange. A touch of hibiscus blossom and fine herbal spice give the bouquet additional depth. On the palate, the wine presents itself juicy, animating, and precisely structured.
The lively acidity lends the rosé tension and crystal-clear definition, while the discreet residual sweetness provides a gentle melt. The body appears slender to medium-weight, with a light texture and fine grip. The tannins remain silky in the background and frame the fruit elegantly.
On the palate, aromas of ripe sour cherries, red currants, and sweet cherries dominate, complemented by citrus zests and a hint of mineral salinity. The finish is medium in length, fruit-driven, and wonderfully refreshing, with a light maritime impression that recalls a breeze from the Atlantic.

Production of Delheim Pinotage Rosé - Delheim
The grapes come from selected sites around the Simonsberg in the renowned Coastal Region of Stellenbosch. The climate features warm, sunny days and cooler nights, influenced by Atlantic winds. These temperature differences preserve the freshness of the berries and promote an intense aromatic spectrum.
The soils consist predominantly of sandy and slightly loamy structures with good drainage. Sandy sections provide finesse and brilliance to the wine, while more loamy inclusions contribute additional aromatic density and structure. The vines root deeply and absorb multi-faceted mineral components that later show in the glass.
Harvesting is done consistently by hand in the early morning hours. The harvested fruit thus reaches the winery pleasantly cool, preserving the varietal fruit character. Strict selection already takes place in the vineyard, in order to process only fully ripe, aromatic grapes.
After arrival in the cellar, destemming and gentle pressing take place. The must remains on the skins only for a short time to extract the desired delicate rosé color and light tannin structure. This is followed by gentle clarification before temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel tanks begins.
Maturation in stainless steel preserves the pure fruit and the clear, fresh character. The estate deliberately avoids wood, so that no barrique influence overlays the delicate berry aromatics. Pinotage provides structure, color, and core, while Muscat contributes fragrance and a touch of exoticism.
The family winery Delheim has stood for decades for authentic, characterful wines from the Simonsberg. Care in the vineyard and precise, minimalist work in the cellar shape the style. The aim remains a rosé with personality, clear sense of origin, and strong everyday appeal that also convinces in competitions.
Serving recommendations for Delheim Pinotage Rosé - Delheim
Delheim Pinotage Rosé - Delheim accompanies a wide variety of culinary moments and pairs excellently with light, aromatic dishes. The fresh acidity and juicy fruit harmonize ideally with fish, seafood, and moderately seasoned dishes.
- Fish & seafood: ceviche, grilled prawns, scallops
- White meat: turkey gyros, grilled chicken, pasta with poultry
- Spicy cuisine: chorizo carbonara, tapas, dishes with gentle heat
- Vegetarian: yellow bell pepper foam soup, vegetable tarts, Mediterranean antipasti
- Aperitif: solo on the terrace or as a prelude to summery menus
The rosé is an excellent match for relaxed evenings with friends, garden parties, picnics, and summer barbecues. Its lively character brings energy to social gatherings without being dominant. It also reveals its charm as a stylish companion to brunch and light lunchtime dishes.
The ideal serving temperature is 8 to 10 degrees Celsius. A well-chilled bottle in a white wine glass showcases the finely drawn interplay of aromas to the greatest effect. Temperatures that are too low mask the fruit, while serving it too warm robs the structure of its tension.
The wine reaches its most attractive drinking window in the first two years after harvest. Storage in the home wine collection is preferably cool, protected from light, and low in vibration. Upright bottles with screw caps are particularly easy to handle.
With its classic bottle design, vegan production, and precise stylistic profile, this rosé presents itself as the perfect all-rounder for all who appreciate a characterful South African summer wine from the Simonsberg.
