Experience the terraced wines of the Wachau
The Wachau, the narrow Danube valley between Melk and Krems is a World Cultural Heritage Site and a landscape of well-being and, with its very special microclimate, is one of the most interesting wine-growing regions in Austria. The domain Wachau includes almost 1400 hectares of vineyards, mostly on steep terraces facing south, mainly Grüner Veltliner, Riesling and to a lesser extent the red wines of the typical Austrian grape variety Blauer Zweigelt. Some of the wines are divided into different categories, where "Steinfeder","Federspiel" and "Smaragd" stand for the natural purity of the wines of this region.
Domäne Wachau with its winery is located in Dürnstein and has enjoyed an excellent reputation for many years. The standard wines "Collection" and "Allerheiligen" with their typical aroma reflect the terroir of the Wachau. The best locations for their "Terraces" line are selected early on and show even more pronounced minerality, fine fruitiness and a fine liveliness.
