Blauer Zweigelt Terrassen - Domäne Wachau

The Blauer Zweigelt Terrassen from Domäne Wachau is a velvety, single-varietal red wine from the Austrian wine-growing region of Wachau. 

In the glass this wine shimmers in a delicate ruby red with purple highlights. The inviting bouquet delights the nose with fruit-driven aromas of juicy cherries and ripe raspberries – underpinned by spicy and mineral notes. Wonderfully elegant, gentle and very harmonious, this Austrian red wine presents itself on the palate. The juicy abundance of fruit and the spicy nuances harmonize beautifully with the well-integrated acidity and the velvety tannin structure. This red wine concludes with a pleasantly long finish and is very approachable even in its youth. 

Vinification of Domäne Wachau Terrassen Blauer Zweigelt

The grapes are harvested by hand in mid-October and immediately brought to the wine cellar of Domäne Wachau. There, the harvested fruit is completely destemmed, crushed and initially fermented on the skins for several days. This process extracts the desired color pigments, aromas and gentle tannins from the berry skins. Finally, this wine is drawn off and placed in large wooden casks for maturation so it can round out harmoniously.
