Domaine Terre de Tramontane - Fresh wines from the hot south of France
The Tramontana is the name given to several winds in the western Mediterranean. In Catalonia and Languedoc, the Tramontana is the north-northwest wind that comes from the mountain ranges and blows towards the Gulf of Lion. It is the opposite of the autonomous wind. In Provence and Italy, it is more of a north wind called the mistral.

The siblings Johanna and Daniel Freund
They are the owners of Domaine Terre de Tramontane and pursue their very own vision here. According to the rules of organic and biodynamic viticulture, exclusive top wines are produced here, which are characterized by great expressiveness, freshness and liveliness. Every move in the vineyards of Domaine Terre Tramontane follows the goal of producing fresh, lively, expressive wines. To give the vines the necessary strength and vitality to do so, we follow the principles of biodynamic agriculture. We protect and preserve the vitality of the soil by not using chemicals. Instead, use herbal extracts, teas, natural preparations to strengthen the natural balance between soils, plants and animals. Prunings, pomace and all those natural products that accumulate on the domaine are used to fertilize and strengthen the soils as compost. Harvesting is done exclusively by hand and in the cool morning hours of the days to maintain quality and freshness. And during fermentation, only wild yeasts are used.

Volcanic soil exciting earth
Domaine Terre de Tramontane's 10 hectares of vineyards are in a very unusual location - they almost all face north and are further infused with coolness and freshness by the fall wind 'Tramontane'. Despite the hot climate, the grapes remain healthy and can ripen fully. The vineyards are situated at the foot of the volcano Seinte Marthe, which in prehistoric times stirred up the soil and created a rich soil for multi-layered, exciting wines. Components of the vineyards are:
- Keuper
- Marl
- Red sandstone
- Slate
- Limestone
- Basalt
