Dr. Bürklin-Wolf - biodynamic viticulture from the Palatinate region
The roots of the Dr. Bürklin-Wolf winery go back to the 16th century. With 86 hectares of vineyards, the winery is one of the largest private estates in Germany and has been managed since 1992 by Christian von Guradze together with his wife, the heiress of the family winery. Although it had been known for its Auslese and Trockenbeerenauslese wines for some time, they changed the main focus of production to dry white wines, vinified primarily from Riesling.
Biodynamics and Grand Crus classification
Two innovations have fundamentally changed the overall production concept of the traditional winery Dr. Bürklin-Wolf and brought it back to the top of the Palatinate wines: The cultivation of the vineyards according to biodynamic guidelines, which has been converted since 2005, and the classification of the single vineyard sites into Grands Crus and Premiers Crus sites, following the example of Burgundy.
