7 million times quality per year

It was a certain Ètienne Guigal who founded the Château d'Ampuis winery in 1946 in the commune of Ampuis. Among critics and wine connoisseurs, among whom the winery enjoys an excellent reputation, it is known as Château d'Ampuis È. Guigal. Today it is the son Marcel Guigal who runs the winery. He has no less ambition than to always bring the best wines to the market. Praising words of wine critics and highest ratings show that he lives up to this claim. And this with an annual production of about seven million bottles. Marcel Guigal thus shows that quality and mass production do not necessarily have to be mutually exclusive.

Reference wines from the Rhone Valley

The vineyards of the Chateau d'Ampuis winery are located in the northern Rhone Valley. On a total of 62 hectares, the vineyards are spread over the Rhone Valley. The grape varieties are Grenache, Syrah and Mourvedre, Viognier and Grenache Noir. The grapes harvested are mainly made into red wines. Only a part of the Viognier harvest is made into white wine, otherwise red wines are produced for the most part. The Guigal family has a very simple motto when it comes to processing - they want to offer wines that are the reference in every area.

Reviewed and recommended by critics

Particularly popular and sought-after are the wines made from Syrah vines. It is not uncommon for critics to praise and rave at tastings of the great cru. The wines are aged in huge oak barrels, which, by the way, are produced in the in-house cooperage, over a period of one to four years. In addition to the pure red and white wines, a number of cuvees are also produced. This usually involves a combination of Grenache, Mourvedre and Syrah, which is considered a typical Rhone combination.
