Francois Feuillet - from camper to wine
The Domaine François Feuillet is located in Burgundy. The estate has several plots in the famous wine-growing villages of Vosne-Romanée and Nuits-Saint-Georges. Behind the winery is the businessman François Feuillet, who became rich with the mobile home manufacturer Trigano. He acquired the first plots in Burgundy back in the 90s. in 2020, he stepped down as managing director and can now concentrate all the more on viticulture. He is assisted by oenologist David Duband, who took on the project when he was young and ambitious. Today, he also runs his winery in the area, but continues to oversee the winemaking of François Feuillet. Duband is considered one of the "rising stars" of Burgundy - a real tip for the connoisseur.
The terroir of the vineyards of François Feuillet
The vineyards of François Feuillet are mainly distributed in:
- Nuits-Saint-Georges
- Vosne-Romanée
- Gevrey Chambertin

The vineyards are planted exclusively with Pinot Noir. The terroir of the vineyards is as follows:
Nuits-Saint-Georges
This small wine-growing village has two characteristic soil types: In the north, there are mainly silty soils with stones rolled down from the surrounding hills and alluvial deposits from the Meuzin River valley. In the south of the commune, there are also deep silt soils in the valley, but part of the vineyards are also located on the top of hills where the vines take root directly in limestone.
Vosne-Romanée
Located just north of Nuits-Saint-Georges and about 18 km south of Dijon, this village is best known for its 16 Premier and 8 Grand Cru sites, which are unique to this commune. The François Feuillet wines are also prdouced with grapes from these sites, such as the Grand Cru site of Echezeaux. The soils are characterized by limestone and marly clay, and the soil depth can range from just a few centimeters to a meter. The terrain slopes towards the east, in this respect all the vineyards are also oriented towards it.
Gevrey-Chambertin
This place is located directly south of Dijon and opens, so to speak, the wine-growing area in Burgundy. The soils are characterized by limestone, partially covered with marl, rock rubble and silt. The vineyards are south-southeast oriented. There are also 8 Grand Cru and a full 26 Premier Cru sites in this commune.

The wines of François Feuillet
David Duband holds the reins in the production of the François Feuillet wines, vinifying them in his style that has brought him so much acclaim. Typical of the wines he produces is that he puts a portion of the grapes into the fermentation entirely as a bunch, including the raisins. These release bitterns into the wine with them, in just such an amount as to accentuate the elegant, terroir-centered character of the wines. About 30-40% of the harvest is put into the tank as a whole bunch. All vineyard work is done manually, starting with the manual harvest and ending with the treading of the grapes with the feet. Thus, the wines of François Feuillet arrive in the cellar already in the best conditions, where they are finally aged according to Burgundy tradition. The wines are typically fermented in oak barrels.
