Viña Kaiken: Aurelio Montes Beyond the Andes
Kaiken is the name given by the Mapuche Indians to the Patagonian wild goose that crosses the Andes from Chile to Argentina. The renowned Chilean winemaker Aurelio Montes was also drawn across the Andes to neighboring Argentina to produce select wines, which he therefore named Kaiken.
Montes discovers Argentina
The Argentine region of Mendoza in particular offers unique winegrowing conditions that fascinated the pampered winemaker from Chile. Montes patiently, critically and carefully searched for the best grapes and the best sites before choosing vineyards in the Valle de Uco. Montes also monitors very closely the entire growth and ripening of the grapes. Every detail, from the first pruning to the harvest, is closely monitored to guarantee optimal harvest qualities.
Malbec & Cabernet
In order to preserve the authentic regional character of the wines, Montes focuses on the two most characteristic Argentine grape varieties, Malbec and Cabernet Sauvignon, from which he produces different qualities. All the passion of the winemaker, his unconditional dedication to quality and the authentic expression of terroir and climate are expressed in these Kaiken wines.
