The Late Bottled Vintage by Taylor's Port from the Portuguese wine region DOC Douro is an aromatic, lush port wine from the Tinta Roriz, Tinta Barocca, Touriga Nacional, Touriga Francesa and Tinta Cao grape varieties.
The deep red color of this port is reminiscent of a sparkling ruby with black-purple highlights. The nose reveals a complex, dense aroma of ripened black fruits (blackberry, blackcurrant and elderberry) together with subtle nuances of herbs and ink as well as a fine mineral touch. Very concentrated and lush – but at the same time velvety soft – with a good body, this port presents itself on the palate. The dark berry fruit of the nose is reflected and accompanies in the long finale, which is accompanied by a sweet-spicy touch.
Vinification of Taylor's Port LBV
The grapes for this port are carefully picked by hand and immediately brought to the wine cellar of Taylor's Port. There, the harvested material is first rammed into lagares and the mash is sufficiently rolled. The mash is then fermented at a maximum temperature of 30 degrees Celsius. As soon as half of the sugar has been fermented, the fermentation process is stopped by the addition of high-percentage distillate. This preserves this wine's natural residual sweetness. Finally, this port is matured for 4 years in wooden barrels (volume 600 liters).

This sweet port wine goes perfectly with spicy blue cheese - such as Blue Stilton or Roquefort - and chocolate desserts with homemade fruit compote.
