Podere di Marcialla - Chianti in Bio
The Podere di Marcialla winery is located on a green Chianti hill halfway between Florence and Siena and covers an area of 28 hectares, 13 of which are vineyards and 8 olive groves. The new and ambitious project was born in 2009 from the merger of the Anichini and Passaponti families, who have been growing grapes in the Barberino val d'Elsa and Certaldo areas for over 150 years. Today Silvio Anichini, Giovanni and Maria Pia Passaponti run their farm with dedication and passion according to the organic farming method. An idea that was already realized in 1988 thanks to Giovanni's respect and love for his land. The farm philosophy of ecological sustainability is followed to the smallest detail and is expressed in the daily search for the maximum expression of the terroir with full respect for the environment and its biodiversity.

Viticulture at Podere di Marcialla
Organic farming requires a working method that allows only the use of products found in nature and excludes the use of synthetic chemical substances or those derived from genetic manipulation. It is a production model based on respect for the environment and its resources, and is a way to preserve the ecosystem and its biodiversity. In organic farming there are no herbicides, fungicides or insecticides; it is therefore a targeted agriculture in which tradition, science and awareness are integrated. These elements complement each other and are essential to convey the value and expression of the land through its own products.

Different grape varieties are cultivated, from which the wines of the estate are then produced. These are among others:
- Trebbiano
- Malvasia
- Vermentino
- Sangiovese
- Canaiolo
- Merlot
- Cabernet Sauvignon
The wines of the estate Podere di Marcialla
The estate produces a variety of wines, but the focus is on the classic red wine of Tuscany, Chianti. The Chianti consists of at least 80% of Sangiovese, although other grape varieties can be added. Podere di Marcialla offers several versions of this iconic wine, which differ in grape variety composition and aging technique. In addition, the range also includes a red wine that is not produced according to the Chianti specifications, as well as a rosé and a white wine. Sweet wine is also produced.

The aging techniques for the individual wines differ; for the white and rosé wines, Podere di Marcialla uses stainless steel tanks, while the red wines are fermented in concrete tanks. The higher-quality reds are then aged in barrels, either in classic barriques or in 10-hl barrels. The wood for this is provided by French oak. These wines are also stored in the bottle for a while before they are put on the market. A special feature in the cellar are also the chestnut barrels in which the sweet wine of the estate develops.
