Ruggeri History
The history of the Ruggeri Prosecco Manufactory is deeply rooted in the winemaking tradition of the Valdobbiadene region. This is evidenced by the mention of the "Case Bisoi", which in German means "houses of the Bisol family", on many historical maps in the heart of Cartizze. From the second half of the 19th century, Eliseo Bisol already owned a small winery in Santo Stefano. His son Luigi, one of the first trained oenologists in Valdobbiadene, built another winery in Montebelluna in 1920. In 1950, his son Giustino Bisol, together with his cousin Luciano Ruggeri - the company's namesake - founded the Ruggeri winery.
Since its foundation, Ruggeri has been one of the few wine producers in Valdobbiadene to focus on the production of sparkling wines. Giustino's work was continued by his son Paolo and his granddaughter Isabella together with great dedication and constant passion.

Ruggeri production area - Valdobbiadene
The production area around Valdobbiadene clearly distinguishes itself within the large Prosecco area. On the one hand, by the outstanding wine qualities it produces, but also, since 2009, by its status as a controlled and guaranteed denomination of origin D.O.C.G.. The now official and protected designation for the top wines produced here is from this point on Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore D.O.C.G..
Ruggeri produces its wines from the best grapes of the "GOLDEN THREE HILLS". This beautiful hilly area is located between the towns of Santo Stefano, San Pietro di Barbozza and Saccol, forming a sort of triangle, and benefits from a fantastic combination of climate, soils and orientation.

Ruggeri Wines
The Glera variety ( formerly Prosecco ) grows in elongated vines, with long thin stems that support the golden grapes kissed by the sun. It is as fine and elegant as the wine it yields. In the old vineyards of Valdobbiadene, here and there among the Glera vines, you can find typical ancient varieties such as Bianchetta, Perera and Verdisio, which clearly contribute to the complexity of the final product. Until the 1990s, the grapes were harvested quite late, often in October. In recent years, harvesting has moved forward and now usually takes place in mid to late September, sometimes as early as the beginning of the month.
Pioneering experiments have convinced Ruggeri that it is essential to cultivate the time factor. To give Prosecco from the most precious vines a slowly evolving perspective that Prosecco can also mature is the goal. Ruggeri is one of the few Prosecco producers to have established wines with vintage depth.
