Shiraz Lloyd Reserve - Coriole

The Shiraz Lloyd Reserve from Coriole is vinified exclusively from Shiraz and shines in a deep dark purple in the glass.

The bouquet opens with powerful notes of ripe plums, juicy blueberries and nuances of espresso. Underpinning the aromas of the nose are ground black pepper and currant liqueur. The palate reveals a dense array of flavors with lush, generous notes of dark berries. The barrel aging presents itself in this full-bodied wine with wonderful caramel tones that harmonize perfectly with the velvety tannins and balanced acidity. The finish is wonderfully round, juicy and long lasting.

Vinification of the Coriole Shiraz Lloyd Reserve

From the McLaren Vale (Seaview site), the Shiraz grapes come from a small vineyard of 1.6 hectares. The vines grow there on ferruginous terra rossa with limestone. The climate conditions are perfect for the grapes - cool nights and warm days with sufficient rain in winter and sunshine in spring allow the Shiraz to thrive to optimal maturity.

The grapes are carefully hand-picked for this red wine. After the selection of the grapes, the must is fermented in open vats. During this process, the mash is circulated by hand. This red wine is then aged for 22 months in French oak barriques.
