More information about Skaliekop Chenin blanc - David & Nadia
The barrel-aged Skaliekop Chenin Blanc from the Western Cape wine-growing region presents itself in the glass in a radiant platinum yellow. If you give it some air in the glass by swirling, you can perceive a first-class balance in this white wine, as it neither appears watery nor syrupy or liqueur-like on the sides of the glass. The initial nose of the Skaliekop Chenin Blanc caresses with nuances of lemon and brioche. Notes from barrel ageing, such as honey, join the fruity components of the bouquet.
This wine delights with its elegantly dry taste profile. It was bottled with exceptionally little residual sugar. As you would expect from a wine in the icon wine segment, this South African, despite all its dryness, naturally enchants with the finest balance. Aroma simply does not necessarily require sugar. On the palate, this well-balanced white wine is characterized by an exceedingly light texture. The finish of this youthful white wine from the Western Cape wine-growing region, more precisely from Swartland, is ultimately impressive with a good aftertaste.
Vinification of the Skaliekop Chenin Blanc by David & Nadia
The basis for the well-balanced Skaliekop Chenin Blanc from the Western Cape is grapes of the Chenin Blanc variety. After the grape harvest, the grapes are brought to the press house as quickly as possible. There they are sorted and gently crushed. This is followed by fermentation in small wooden barrels at controlled temperatures. After fermentation is complete, the elegant Skaliekop Chenin Blanc is matured for a few more months in French oak barrels.
