The ULISSE Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo DOC from Tenuta Ulisse appears in the glass in a powerful raspberry rosé and caresses the nose with juicy aromas of ripe raspberries and cherries. This bouquet is rounded off by gentle floral nuances.

This Italian rosé from Abruzzo starts on the palate with an inviting, slightly sweet opening and reprises the delicious aromas of raspberries and cherries. In the long finish this Montepulciano impresses with spicy herbal notes and a delicate hint of licorice. The Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo seduces with its good structure and its full, velvety impression.

Vinification of the ULISSE Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo DOC from Tenuta Ulisse

The ULISSE line consists of single-varietal wines that impressively demonstrate what fantastic aromas and flavors can arise when indigenous grape varieties grow in the soils that are ideal for them.

This rosé wine is made from 100% Montepulciano d’Abruzzo. The origin of this grape variety has not been definitively clarified to this day; however, it has always been cultivated in Abruzzo and in central and southern Italy. Thanks to the passion of a number of winemakers, Montepulciano d’Abruzzo grapes are now among the best red grapes.

The selective hand harvest takes place in 10-kilogram containers; cooled with dry ice, the grapes reach the winery undamaged. There they are selected once again to ensure absolutely exquisite harvested grapes. 

The grapes are cooled down to -5°C with nitrogen within 3 minutes. In this process the cell structure is broken down and extraction is promoted, which explains the intense, fascinating, fresh-fruity aromatics of this wine. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, followed by maturation in the same tanks for a period of 3 months.
