Gleichenstein Winery – A 400-Year History
The Freiherr von Gleichenstein winery looks back on an almost 400-year history in viticulture. It has been owned by the von Gleichenstein family since 1634. Freiherr Hans Joachim von Gleichenstein, father of the current owner Johannes von Gleichenstein, transformed what was formerly a mixed agricultural enterprise into a pure winery. Since 2002, Johannes von Gleichenstein has been running the estate together with Christina von Gleichenstein.
The Gleichenstein winery is situated amidst many vineyards in one of the most beautiful and warmest regions of Germany.
On the 50 hectares of vineyard area, mainly classic grape varieties such as Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris and Pinot Blanc, as well as Muscat, Chardonnay and Müller-Thurgau are grown.
Through consistent yield reduction and further quality-optimizing measures
in the vineyard as well as in the cellar, the producers repeatedly succeed in creating wines that rank among the best in Germany.
