More information about Spätburgunder Réserve trocken - Weingut Freiherr von Gleichenstein
The Spätburgunder Réserve from the hand of Weingut Freiherr von Gleichenstein in Baden shows a bright, light red color in the wine glass. When the glass is held slightly at an angle, a transition of the wine’s color towards garnet red can be seen at the rims of this barrel-aged wine. When swirling the glass, this red wine reveals an incomparable balance, as it does not appear watery, nor syrupy or liqueur-like on the sides of the glass. On the nose, this red wine from Weingut Freiherr von Gleichenstein presents all kinds of sour cherries. As if this were not already impressive, further aromas such as red currant and black currant are added thanks to maturation in small wooden barrels.
This red wine from Weingut Freiherr von Gleichenstein is perfect for all wine enthusiasts who prefer as little residual sugar in their wine as possible. At the same time, it never appears meager or austere, just as one would naturally expect from a wine in the premium and single-vineyard segment. Thanks to its moderate acidity, the Spätburgunder Réserve caresses the palate with a velvety mouthfeel without sacrificing freshness. The finish of this matured red wine from the Baden region finally delights with a lovely aftertaste. The aftertaste is also accompanied by mineral facets from the loess-dominated soils.
Vinification of the Weingut Freiherr von Gleichenstein Spätburgunder Réserve
This wine clearly focuses on a single grape variety, namely Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir). Only the best grape material was used for this exceptionally well-balanced varietal wine from Weingut Freiherr von Gleichenstein. In Baden, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on loess soils. After hand-picking, the grapes are brought to the press house as quickly as possible. There they are sorted and gently crushed. Fermentation in small wooden barrels follows at controlled temperatures. Fermentation is followed by maturation for several months in oak barrels.
