The powerful Montes Alpha M from Montes glides into the glass with a dense purple-red color. After the first swirl, this red wine reveals great density and richness, which is reflected in strong legs on the glass. In the glass, this red wine from Montes displays aromas of violets, morello cherries, lilac, lavender, and mulberries, complemented by oriental spices, black tea, and dark chocolate. The Montes Montes Alpha M presents itself to the wine lover pleasantly dry. This red wine never appears coarse or lean, but rather round and smooth. Powerful and complex, this dense and velvety red wine presents itself on the palate. On the finish, this youthful wine from the Valle Central wine-growing region finally delights with considerable length. Once again, hints of black cherry and plum emerge. On the aftertaste, mineral notes from the limestone- and sand-dominated soils join in.

Vinification of the Montes Montes Alpha M

The basis for the first-class and wonderfully powerful Montes Alpha M cuvée from Montes is Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot grapes. The grapes grow under optimal conditions in the Valle Central. Here, the vines drive their roots deep into soils of sand and limestone. A not-to-be-underestimated influence on the ripening of the grapes is also the fact that the Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot grapes thrive under the influence of a rather cool climate. This is expressed, among other things, in particularly long and evenly ripening grapes and a rather moderate alcohol content in the wine. When they are perfectly ripe, the grapes for Montes Alpha M are harvested exclusively by hand, without the use of coarse and less selective mechanical harvesters. After the harvest, the grapes are quickly brought to the winery. There they are selected and gently crushed. Fermentation then takes place in small wooden barrels at controlled temperatures. After the end of fermentation, Montes Alpha M is matured for another 18 months in French oak barriques.
