More information about Douro Reserva - Castelinho

With the Castelinho Douro Reserva, a first-class red wine finds its way into the glass. It offers a wonderfully bright, ruby-red color. This Portuguese cuvée caresses the glass with delightfully complex notes of acacia. Added to this are hints of chocolate.

On the palate, Castelinho’s Douro Reserva starts off delightfully aromatic, fruit-driven, and well-balanced. Balanced and complex, this velvety, dense, and meaty red wine presents itself on the palate. On the finish, this wine from the Douro & Porto winegrowing region delights with a lovely length. Once again, nuances of acacia appear.

Vinification of Castelinho Douro Reserva

This well-balanced red wine from Portugal is vinified from the grape varieties Tempranillo and Touriga Nacional. After the harvest, the grapes are brought to the winery without delay. There they are sorted and gently crushed. Fermentation then takes place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. After fermentation is complete, the Douro Reserva can continue to harmonize on the fine lees for several months.

Food recommendation for Castelinho Douro Reserva

Enjoy this red wine from Portugal best at a temperature of 15–18°C as an accompaniment to fried calf’s liver with apples, onions, and balsamic sauce, duck breast with sugar snap peas, or ossobuco.
