More information about Eleanor - Francis Ford Coppola Winery
The Eleanor from Francis Ford Coppola Winery is a wonderful red blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (58%), Syrah (34%), Petit Syrah (6%) and Merlot (2%). Francis Ford Coppola dedicates this wine to his wife: "... after fifty years of marriage, I want to honor her with 'Eleanor' her own wine."
In the glass, this red wine from California presents a rich cherry red hue with ruby highlights. Powerful aromas of ripe blackberry, plum and some anise unfold on the nose. The palate is treated to concentrated notes of fresh raspberries, juicy cherries and hints of dark chocolate as well as black pepper and a touch of minerality. The body is excellently structured and convinces with its firm tannin. The finish is unforgettably long and finely spicy.
Vinification of the Eleanor Coppola
The grapes for this red wine come from vineyards in Dry Creek Valley, Sonoma County, North Coast, Rutherford and Napa Valley.
The grapes are carefully harvested by hand. In the open fermentation tank, the mash is pressed down up to 4 times daily. After fermentation, this red wine is aged for 20 months in French oak barriques.
