Sustainability

When it comes to sustainability, you are a pioneer in South Africa! Currently, around 95 percent of South African vineyards are cultivated in compliance with sustainability criteria. They proudly display this on every bottle. The green label on the neck of the bottle documents the producer's successful commitment to sustainability. The individual coding of each wine allows for the control without exception along the entire production chain - from the vine to the bottle. Only wines produced in South Africa receive this precious seal. Farms are audited and inspected by an independent Wine of Spirit Board.

For example, in 1928 Professor Abraham Izak Perold, the legendary botanist and wine scientist who developed the Pinotage grape, joined KWV. He was responsible for experimenting with new varieties and improving quality control.
