More information about Sauvignon Blanc - Golden Kaan

The Sauvignon Blanc from Golden Kaan, hailing from the Western Cape, reveals a bright, pale yellow color in the glass. On the nose, this Golden Kaan white wine displays all sorts of peaches, Galia melon, star fruit, papayas, and cape gooseberries. As if that were not already impressive, further aromas such as forest floor and sun-warmed stone are added thanks to maturation in stainless steel.

This wine delights with its elegantly dry flavor profile. It was bottled with 5.3 grams of residual sugar. For an entry-level wine this is by no means a given, and so this South African, despite all its dryness, naturally enchants with the finest balance. Flavor does not necessarily require a lot of residual sugar. On the palate, this well-balanced white wine is characterized by an exceptionally crisp texture. Thanks to the balanced acidity, the Sauvignon Blanc caresses the palate with a velvety mouthfeel without forgoing juicy liveliness at the same time. On the finish, this youthful white wine from the Western Cape winegrowing region impresses with considerable length. Once again, hints of mirabelle and peach appear.

Vinification of the Golden Kaan Sauvignon Blanc

The basis for this balanced Sauvignon Blanc from the Western Cape is grapes of the Sauvignon Blanc variety. After hand-picking, the grapes are immediately brought to the press house. There they are selected and gently crushed. This is followed by fermentation in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. After fermentation, the wine is aged for several months on the fine lees before it is finally bottled.
