The powerful Gran Cruz LBV Port from Porto Cruz glides into the glass with a dense ruby red. The rim also shows a colored transition to brick-colored. If you give it some air by swirling, this red wine reveals a high viscosity, which shows in church windows at the edge of the glass. The first nose of the Gran Cruz LBV 2003 Port presents nuances of plum, black cherry and plum. The fruity parts of the bouquet are joined by notes of barrel aging such as even more fruity-balsamic nuances.
The powerful Porto Cruz Gran Cruz LBV Port shows us an incredibly fruity taste on the tongue, which is not least due to its residually sweet flavor profile. Powerful and multifaceted, this powerful red wine presents itself on the palate. The fruit acidity of the Gran Cruz LBV 2003 Port is remarkably mild and makes this wine wonderfully smooth. The finale of this Port from the wine-growing region Douro & Porto, more precisely from Porto DOC, finally thrills with extraordinary reverberation.
Vinification of the Porto Cruz Gran Cruz LBV Port
Basis for the powerful Gran Cruz LBV 2003 Port from Douro & Porto are grapes of different, select grape varieties. After the hand harvest, the grapes immediately reach the winery. Here they are selected and carefully broken up. Fermentation follows in large wood at controlled temperatures. Fermentation is followed by aging on the fine lees for several months before the wine is finally drawn into bottles. Once the wine is finished, the Gran Cruz LBV 2003 Port is carefully harmonized.
