More information about Grand Cru Saint-Émilion AOC - Château Quintus
In the glass, the Grand Cru Saint-Émilion from Château Quintus reveals a dense purple-red color. When the glass is slightly tilted, a transition of the wine’s color towards garnet red can be seen at the rims of this barrel-aged wine. After the first swirl, this red wine reveals high viscosity, which shows in pronounced church windows on the glass. Poured into a Bordeaux glass, this Old World red wine offers wonderfully expressive aromas of blackberry, rounded off by leather, black cherry, and tobacco contributed by maturation in wooden casks.
This French wine delights with its elegantly dry flavor profile. It was bottled with exceptionally little residual sugar. As you would expect from a wine of this renown, this Frenchman fascinates, despite all its dryness, with the finest balance. Flavor does not necessarily require residual sugar. Powerful and multi-faceted, this dense red wine presents itself on the palate. On the finish, this very age-worthy red wine from the Bordeaux wine-growing region ultimately captivates with considerable length. Once again, nuances of blackberry appear. In the aftertaste, mineral notes from the limestone-dominated soils join in.
Vinification of the Grand Cru Saint-Émilion from Château Quintus
This powerful red wine from France is vinified from the grape varieties Cabernet Franc and Merlot. In Bordeaux, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on limestone soils. The Grand Cru Saint-Émilion is a through-and-through Old World wine, as this French wine exudes an exceptional European charm that clearly underscores the success of wines from the Old World. At optimal ripeness, the grapes for the Grand Cru Saint-Émilion are harvested exclusively by hand, without the use of rough and less selective machinery. After harvesting, the grapes are brought to the press house as quickly as possible. There they are sorted and gently crushed. This is followed by fermentation in stainless steel tanks and small wooden barrels at controlled temperatures. After the end of fermentation, the Grand Cru Saint-Émilion can continue to harmonize on the fine lees for 18 months.
