La Gioiosa - Prosecco through and through
La Gioiosa is a wine producer from Crocetta del Montello in the Prosecco region. Mainly the famous Italian sparkling wine is produced, but also still wine, grappa and fashion drinks like Hugo are produced here. Three kelelreien belong today to La Gioiosa, which are located in the municipalities of Crocetta del Montello, Valdobbiadene and Noventa di Piave.
The Prosecco region
Home to La Gioiosa is the Prosecco region north of the city of Treviso in Veneto. The area is also known as the Marca Trevigiana. It is characterized by hills that hug the foothills of the Alps and are dotted with vineyards. The rolling hills of the Prosecco region provide an ideal foundation, allowing the vines to take full advantage of long days of sunshine. The main grape variety, which makes up the majority of Prosecco, is the Glera grape, which until recently was itself the name of the sparkling wine. However, individual corners of the region are planted with other grape varieties, some of which may be blended with Prosecco. These include, for example:
- Pinot Nero (Pinot Noir) for rosé Prosecco
- Bianchetta Trevi
- Perera
and some others.
The best regions are found around the municipalities of Valdobbiadene and Conegliano, as well as around the town of Asolo. Wines from these growing regions, vinified according to the guidelines of Prosecco production, are allowed to bear the label "Prosecco Superiore". The terroir is mainly characterized by clay, limestone and sandstone, but varies greatly across the different sub-areas. The climate is influenced by both due to the location between the sea and the Alps, constant ventilation helps the grapes to develop their optimal quality. The fillet pieces are the Rive - small, difficult to cultivate top vineyards around small villages, from which come the best qualities of Prosecco.

La Gioiosa is committed to the conservation and sustainable management of the region, so the company has its own hydroelectric plant and photovoltaic system to supply itself with electricity. The industrial water is also treated on site. For further progress, La Gioiosa has its own laboratory to experiment with pioneering techniques and cooperates with the University of Padua to further optimize its own techniques.
The wines of La Gioiosa
La Gioiosa's portfolio is broad. In addition to wine, for example, fashionable drinks such as Hugo, Fragolino and Spritz are also produced, and an in-house grappa is also made from the used marc. Still wines are also produced, for example red wines from Merlot, Raboso and Cabernet Sauvignon. The core, however, is of course the sparkling wines. This starts with simple sparkling wines, which are vinified from grapes other than the Prosecco grape Glera, through sparkling wines to classic Prosecchi and the higher qualities. Even there, one is not content with just one variant, so especially in the high quality Prosecco Superiore different variants are offered, from the "standard" Superiore to organic sparkling wine to vintage wines, whether in white or rosé, everything is there.
