The elegant Clos du Roi Mercurey Premier Cru from Château de Chamirey enters the glass with a bright light red color. Swiveling the wine glass, one can perceive a first-class balance in this red wine, as it does not stand out watery or syrupy or liqueur-like on the walls of the glass. To the nose, this Château de Chamirey red wine presents all sorts of white currants and gooseberries. As if that were not already impressive, the aging in small wooden barrels adds other aromas such as oak, cigar box and toasted barrique.

This wine delights with its elegantly dry flavor. It was bottled with exceptionally little residual sugar. As you would expect from a wine icon wine segment, this Frenchman naturally enraptures with the finest balance for all its dryness. Taste does not necessarily need a lot of residual sugar. This balanced red wine from France is made from the Pinot Noir grape variety. The grapes grow under optimal conditions in Burgundy. The vines here dig their roots deep into soils of clay, limestone and marl. Without question, Clos du Roi Mercurey Premier Cru is also defined by more than just Cote Chalonnaise and Couchois soil. This Frenchman can be described as an Old World wine in the best sense of the word, and it is exceptionally impressive. The grapes for this red wine from France are harvested, at the time of optimal maturity, exclusively by hand. After the harvest, the grapes arrive at the winery by the fastest route. Here they are sorted and carefully ground. Fermentation follows in stainless steel tanks and small wood at controlled temperatures. After the end of fermentation, the Clos du Roi Mercurey Premier Cru is aged for another 15 months in small French oak barrels.
