More information about Mikros Vorias - Rouvalis Winery

Mikros Vorias from Rouvalis Winery presents itself in a lively, radiant white. Its color shines in a bright straw yellow with gentle golden reflections that bear witness to its freshness. On the nose, seductive aromas of ripe gooseberry unfold, complemented by fresh notes of green bell pepper and delicate citrus tones. These complex fruit aromas combine harmoniously with a hint of mineral freshness, typical of the calcareous soils in the Peloponnese growing region. On the palate, the wine is light and refreshing, with the dry style in combination with a fine texture creating a pleasant mouthfeel. The medium-length finish offers a harmonious balance between fruity freshness and mineral elegance, with the elegant acidity underscoring the character of this wine. The result is a characterful summer wine that delights with its lively aroma and flavorful freshness.

Vinification of Mikros Vorias from Rouvalis Winery

The wine is made from hand-picked Sauvignon Blanc grapes grown in the mineral-rich, calcareous soil of the Slopes of Aigialeia PGI in the southwest of the Peloponnese. Cultivation takes place under specially controlled conditions to ensure the optimal ripeness of the grapes. The grapes are picked by hand during the cooler night hours to preserve freshness and aromatic intensity. After careful selection, the grapes are gently destemmed and lightly pressed to retain the high-quality fruit components.

During vinification, fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature between 8 and 10 °C. This cold fermentation process ensures the preservation of the fresh fruit aromas as well as the mineral nuances. Maturation on the fine lees is avoided in order to preserve the light and vibrant texture. The result is a wine that offers an excellent balance between freshness, intensity, and elegance. After fermentation is complete, the wine is bottled, with Diam TCA-free corks providing optimal freshness and durability. Aging in stainless steel guarantees its fresh-fruity characteristics as well as its ideal storage potential of up to three years.
