Vinification of the Bodegas Montecillo Montecillo Gran Reserva Rioja

The basis for the balanced Montecillo Gran Reserva Rioja from La Rioja are grapes from the Tempranillo grape variety. In La Rioja, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on soils of clay and limestone. Clearly, the Montecillo Gran Reserva Rioja is also determined by more than just the Rioja DOCa soil. This Spaniard can be described as an Old World wine in the best sense of the word, with an exceptionally complex presentation. The grapes for this red wine from Spain, when perfectly ripe, are harvested exclusively by hand. After the hand harvest, the grapes quickly reach the press house. Here they are selected and gently broken up. This is followed by fermentation in small wood at controlled temperatures. After the end of fermentation, the Montecillo Gran Reserva Rioja is aged for another 26 months in French and American oak barrels. The aging in barrel is followed by a long aging in bottle, which makes this red wine even more complex.
