Nicolas Grenache Noir Vieilles Vignes - Domaine Lafage

Nicolas Grenache Noir from Lafage is a real top red wine that brings the essence of the Grenache grape into the glass.

With ruby color, this wine comes into the glass and enchants with lots of red and black berry fruit. First and foremost are aromas of black currants, sun-ripened raspberries, midnight blackberries and sweet blueberries. Spicy notes of southern French garrigue, slate minerality, some oak aromatics and ethereal nuances of sage have also been conjured into the Nicolas Grenache Noir by Jean-Marc Lafage and wife Eliane.

On the palate, the Lafage Nicolas Grenache proves to be powerful and supple, with spicy notes, silky but equally grippy tannins and a vital fruit acidity as a perfectly balanced red wine from the great Languedoc-Roussillon dual region.

Vinification of the Nicolas Lafage Grenache Noir

The grapes for Nicolas Grenache Noir are harvested fully ripe in early October and fermented at low temperature. Then 20% of the wine is aged in French barriques (the oak comes from the forêt de jupilles) for 10 months. The remaining 80% remains in stainless steel tanks.
