More information about St. Sauveur - Abbaye De Lérins

The barrel-aged St. Sauveur from the Provence wine-growing region presents itself in the glass in a brilliant purple red. Poured into a red wine glass, this Old World red wine offers wonderfully expressive aromas of sour cherry, plum and blackberry, rounded off by redcurrant, forest floor and blackcurrant contributed by the maturation in wooden barrels.

On the palate, St. Sauveur from Abbaye De Lérins opens wonderfully dry, firm and aromatic. On the palate, the texture of this well-balanced red wine is wonderfully velvety, dense and powerful. On the finish, this red wine from the Provence wine-growing region delights with a beautiful length. Again, there are hints of plum and sour cherry. In the aftertaste, mineral notes from the limestone-dominated soils join in.

Vinification of St. Sauveur from Abbaye De Lérins

This balanced red wine from France is vinified from the Syrah grape variety. In Provence, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on limestone soils. After hand-picking, the grapes are quickly brought to the press house. There they are sorted and gently crushed. Fermentation in stainless steel tanks and small wooden barrels follows at controlled temperatures. After fermentation is complete, St. Sauveur can continue to harmonize on the fine lees for 12 months.

Food recommendation for St. Sauveur from Abbaye De Lérins

Enjoy this red wine from France best at a temperature of 15–18°C as an accompanying wine to braised chicken in red wine, stuffed peppers or ossobuco.
