More information about Shiraz - Somerbosch
In the glass, the Shiraz from Somerbosch reveals a dense, purple-red color. The first nose of the Shiraz presents nuances of plums, blackberries and sour cherries. The fruity components of the bouquet are joined by forest floor, blackcurrant and redcurrant.
The Somerbosch Shiraz delights with its straightforward, dry taste profile. It was bottled with exceptionally little residual sugar. This is a genuine quality wine that clearly stands out from simpler qualities and thus, despite all its dryness, this South African enchants with the finest balance. Aroma does not necessarily require a lot of residual sugar. On the palate, this powerful red wine is characterized by an immensely dense, opulent and velvety texture. On the finish, this wine from the Western Cape wine-growing region finally impresses with a lovely length. Once again, hints of sour cherry and blackberry appear.
Vinification of the Somerbosch Shiraz
The basis for this powerful Shiraz from the Western Cape is grapes from the Syrah variety. After harvesting, the grapes are brought to the press house immediately. There they are selected and gently crushed. Fermentation then takes place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures. After fermentation is complete, the Shiraz can continue to harmonize on the fine lees for several months.
