TISSOT-MAIRE is an association of two well-known winemakers from the Jura.

Tissot Maire property

The estate of Joseph Tissot was founded in 1896 and has been a producer of Crémants since 1920. He was joined by the producer of the former "Vin Fou", Henri Maire. The owner of the winery today is the Boisset family. The Boisset family owns several vineyards, which they always cultivate at the highest level with an eye for the particularities of the respective region. The following values are particularly important to them

  • Passion for what they do
  • Excellence as a goal
  • Creativity coupled with dynamism, innovation and imagination
  • Respect for the present and the past and for the particularities of the regions

The Boisset family is convinced of the great potential of the Jura. The whole team has an enormous knowledge of sparkling wine production.

The Jura wine region

Jura" is the name given to a département, a mountain range and a wine-growing region in eastern France. This lies close to the Swiss border and directly opposite, on the other side of the Saône valley, the Côte d'Or. With its 280 Domaines on just 80 km, the wine-growing area is relatively small compared to others. For over 2000 years, dry wines as well as the Crémant du Jura have been produced here on 1800 hectares of vineyards.  The terrain is hilly, partly very mountainous. The soils have varied over millions of years. The limestone soil dominates here, but can also be interspersed with clay. Summers are usually hot and dry, with winters that can go into freezing temperatures for extended periods.

Vineyards in the Jura

The insider tip

More and more wine connoisseurs, enthusiasts and sommeliers what a treasure chest the Jura is. Here you can find the own grape varieties like Poulsard, Trousseau or Béclan. The winemaking styles are rather unconventional compared to conventional methods and closely rooted in ancient traditions. The classic Crémant du Jura is produced in the well-known bottle fermentation mostly from Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Particularly noteworthy is the taste similarity of the Crémant to champagne, which is downright amazing.
