More information about Westhaven Reserve Pinot Noir - te Pa

The Westhaven Reserve Pinot Noir - te Pa is a first-class red wine in a well-polished wine glass. It reveals a wonderfully bright, light red color. This single-varietal New Zealand wine is wonderfully fragrant and complex in the glass with notes of blackberry, sour cherry, plum and blueberry. There are also hints of mineral, cranberry and cinnamon.

On the palate, the Westhaven Reserve Pinot Noir - te Pa starts off wonderfully aromatic, fruity and balanced. Some wines are dry on the label, others really are. This red wine belongs to the latter, as it was bottled with only 0.9 g of residual sugar. This velvety red wine is balanced and multi-layered on the palate. Thanks to the balanced fruit acidity, the Westhaven Reserve Pinot Noir flatters with a velvety mouthfeel, without lacking in juicy liveliness. On the finish, this storable red wine from the New Zealand South Island wine-growing region impresses with its exceptional length. Once again, there are hints of sour cherry. Mineral notes from the clay and gravel-dominated soils are added to the finish.

Vinification of the Westhaven Reserve Pinot Noir - te Pa

Grapes from the Pinot Noir grape variety form the basis for the well-balanced Westhaven Reserve Pinot Noir from New Zealand's South Island. On New Zealand's South Island, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on clay and gravel soils. When perfect physiological ripeness is ensured, the grapes for the Westhaven Reserve Pinot Noir are harvested exclusively by hand without the help of coarse and barely selective grape harvesters. After harvesting, the grapes are quickly transported to the winery. Here they are sorted and carefully broken up. This is followed by fermentation in small oak barrels at controlled temperatures. At the end of this process, the elegant Westhaven Reserve Pinot Noir is matured for 15 months in French oak barrels.

Food recommendation for Westhaven Reserve Pinot Noir - te Pa

This New Zealander is best enjoyed at a temperature of 15 - 18°C. It is a perfect accompaniment to braised chicken in red wine, ossobuco or lamb ragout with chickpeas and dried figs.
