More information about Pinot Noir Marlborough - Wild Rock

The Pinot Noir from Wild Rock Wine Company is an elegant, fine and fruit-driven Pinot Noir.

This red wine from New Zealand presents itself with a magnificent cherry red and enchants with its fruity bouquet of cherries and plums. This is underpinned by violet blossoms, sage and thyme. On the palate, this New Zealand red wine provides a round and rich feel. Ripe fruit flavors (blackberries, cherries and black currants) are framed by a firm tannic structure and lead into a lingering finish with medium body and delicate minerality.

Vinification of the Pinot Noir Wild Rock

The vines for this varietal Arrow Pinot Noir grow in Marlborough, located in the south of New Zealand's South Island. This region is considered the southernmost wine growing region in the world. Water-permeable clay soils with a base of coated clay slate form the basic conditions here for the cultivation of excellent Pinot Noir.

The hand-harvested grapes are first transported to the winery, where they are destemmed and lightly crushed. From this, the grape must and berry skins mixture, the mash, is fermented under temperature-controlled conditions in steel tanks and finally pressed. A large part of the wine already flows off without pressing. The final stage is aging in used French barriques, with a small portion rounding out in steel tanks.

Food recommendation for the Wild Rock Pinot Noir

Enjoy this dry red wine with strong stews, dishes with roast game with spicy sauce, or also with rack of lamb.
