More information about Abadal Franc - Abadal
The Abadal Franc from Abadal in Catalonia reveals a dense, ruby-red color in the glass. This wine delights with its elegantly dry taste profile. It was bottled with only 2 grams of residual sugar. As one would naturally expect from a wine in the premium entry-level range, this Spaniard enchants, despite all its dryness, with the finest balance. Excellent flavor does not necessarily require residual sugar. Powerful and complex, this dense and velvety red wine presents itself on the palate. Thanks to its lively acidity, the Abadal Franc reveals an impressively fresh and vibrant character on the palate. The finish of this youthful red wine from the wine-growing region of Catalonia, more precisely from Pla de Bages DO, finally delights with a remarkable length.
Vinification of the Abadal Franc from Abadal
The foundation for the powerful Abadal Franc from Catalonia is grapes of the Cabernet Sauvignon and Tempranillo varieties. Once perfect physiological ripeness is ensured, the grapes for the Abadal Franc are harvested exclusively by hand, without the aid of rough and less selective machinery. After hand-picking, the grapes are quickly brought to the press house. There they are sorted and gently crushed. Fermentation then takes place in small wooden barrels at controlled temperatures. After fermentation, the wine is aged for several months on the fine lees before it is finally bottled.
