More information about Cabernet Sauvignon - Gnarly Head
The Cabernet Sauvignon from Gnarly Head is a varietal, fruity and powerful red wine from the North American wine-growing region of California.
This wine shows in the glass in a dark red with violet reflections. The expressive bouquet enchants The nose with intense aromas of fully ripe sour cherries, blackberries and creme de cassis. In addition, there are floral notes of violets and the typical spice of black pepper. This Californian red wine presents itself on the palate with a lot of power and pressure. The tannin is ripe and present. Alcohol and acidity are well integrated and the finish is of a pleasant length.
Vinification of the Gnarly Head Cabernet Sauvignon
This single varietal red wine is vinified from selected grapes of the Cabernet Sauvignon grape variety around Lodi.
The grapes are harvested in the cool of the night when they are at their ripest and immediately brought to the Gnarly Head winery to be destemmed. This is followed by fermentation for 24-48 hours at a controlled temperature. When this is complete, part of this wine is aged in American and French oak barrels, while the remaining part is aged in stainless steel tanks to allow generous black fruit notes to develop.
