Care Family Vineyards History

Bodegas Care is located in the heart of the Cariñena Denomination of Origin , one of the historic and emerging areas of national viticulture, and was born as an exclusive, progressive and committed wine company. Care , the brand of Bodegas Añadas founded in 2000, is the ancient name by which the Romans called the city of Cariñena and which later evolved into Caraellana, "La Querida Llanura" . An etymology that reflects on the origin, commitment to the land and love for their territory. At the same time it refers to the English word Care, because you care and respect the vines and vinification of all their wines. The brand image of Bodegas Care is determined and characterized by faces, these are original works of art by the artist Enrique Torrijos.

The winery and the creation of the wines has been conceived as a complete and innovative process, where every single element is carefully selected. From the selection of the vineyards, where obtaining the best quality grapes is the main objective, to the infrastructure of the different production, control and aging areas.

The land of Garnacha and Carignan

The region is characterised by a continental Mediterranean climate with an average altitude of 650 metres, low rainfall of less than 300 litres per year, cold winters and hot summers. The great differences in temperature between day and night and the great influence of the north-west wind called Cierzo affect the harvest times, which mainly take place at night. The earth with rich quartzite and clay soils , more than 6000 hectares of old vineyards planted in the traditional style for over 40 years and the enormous cultural roots and passion for the vine and wine characterize the winery and winemakers.

The wines of Bodegas Care come 100% from their own vineyards. The vineyards are mainly divided between two main estates , Finca Bancales and Finca Cadillos, each with 50 hectares, and a number of small plots with different soils, which means that the vineyards have been planted with the best vines and each variety can grow in the right place.
This is their viticultural foundation, which brings together the best grapes within a 5 to 10 km radius of the winery site, giving their wines strength, personality and character, Care.
