Vinification of Care Family Vineyards Tinto Sobre Lias
The basis for the powerful Tinto Sobre Lias from Aragon are grapes of the Garnacha and Syrah varieties. In Aragon, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on limestone, slate and gravel soils. When perfectly ripe, the grapes for the Tinto Sobre Lias are harvested exclusively by hand, without the use of coarse, less selective machinery. After handpicking, the grapes are immediately taken to the press house. There they are sorted and gently crushed. Fermentation in small oak barrels at controlled temperatures follows. After fermentation, the Tinto Sobre Lias is matured for a few more months in American oak barriques.
