The barrel-aged Rouge Côtes du Roussillon Villages from the wine-growing region of Roussillon appears in the glass in dense purple. To the nose, this Château de Jau red wine presents all sorts of mulberries, black currants, blackberries and blueberries. As if that were not already impressive, oriental spices, black tea and cinnamon join in due to the aging in small wooden barrels.
The Château de Jau Rouge Côtes du Roussillon Villages presents itself to the wine lover wonderfully dry. This red wine never shows itself coarse or meager, as one might expect from a wine in the upper price range. On the palate, the texture of this powerful red wine is wonderfully velvety. The finale of this youthful red wine from the wine-growing region of Roussillon, more precisely from Cotes du Roussillon-Villages, finally impresses with considerable reverberation.
The basis for the first-class and wonderfully powerful Cuvée Rouge Côtes du Roussillon Villages from Château de Jau are Carignan, Grenache, Mourvèdre and Syrah grapes. After harvesting, the grapes arrive at the winery by the fastest route. Here they are sorted and carefully broken up. Then fermentation takes place in small wood at controlled temperatures. The fermentation is followed by aging for several months on the fine lees before the wine is finally drawn into bottles.
