When swirling the glass, this white wine reveals a first-class balance, as it neither appears watery nor syrupy or liqueur-like on the sides of the glass. The initial nose of the Chenin Blanc reveals notes of dried apricot. The fruity components of the bouquet are joined by barrel-aged notes such as ginger and almond.
This wine delights with its elegantly dry flavor profile. It was bottled with exceptionally little residual sugar. As one would expect from an icon wine in this segment, this South African, despite all its dryness, enchants with the finest balance. Excellent flavor simply doesn’t necessarily need sugar. On the palate, this well-balanced white wine is characterized by an incredibly light texture. On the finish, this youthful white wine from the Western Cape wine region impresses with considerable length. Hints of dried apricot appear once again. In the aftertaste, mineral notes from the limestone- and clay-dominated soils join in.
Vinification of the Chenin Blanc by David & Nadia
This balanced white wine from South Africa is made from the Chenin Blanc grape variety. The grapes grow under optimal conditions in the Western Cape. Here, the vines sink their roots deep into soils of limestone and clay. After being harvested by hand, the grapes are brought to the winery as quickly as possible. There they are selected and gently crushed. Fermentation then takes place in concrete and small wooden vessels at controlled temperatures. After fermentation, the wine matures for several months on the fine lees before it is finally bottled.
