More information about Diamond Heart Waihopai Cuvée Sparkling - Marisco

The Diamond Heart Blanc de Blanc Sparkling from Marisco on New Zealand’s South Island reveals a brilliant golden-yellow color in the glass. The mousse of this sparkling wine shines wonderfully long-lasting and fine in the glass. At the core, this sparkling wine displays a beautiful color. After the first swirl, poured into a sparkling wine glass, this wine from New Zealand presents wonderfully expressive aromas of orange, kumquat, pomelo, and pear, rounded off by roasted hazelnut, walnut, and brittle.

The Marisco Diamond Heart Blanc de Blanc Sparkling presents itself to the connoisseur as pleasantly dry. This sparkling wine never appears coarse or meager, as one might expect from a wine in the premium and single-vineyard segment. Thanks to its lively acidity, the Diamond Heart Blanc de Blanc Sparkling is exceptionally fresh and vibrant on the palate.

Vinification of the Diamond Heart Blanc de Blanc Sparkling from Marisco

The elegant Diamond Heart Blanc de Blanc Sparkling from New Zealand is a varietal wine made from Chardonnay. On New Zealand’s South Island, the vines that produce the grapes for this wine grow on weathered rock soils. Due to the moderating influence of the nearby river, the grapes ripen more slowly and develop greater aromatic complexity. The fact that the Chardonnay grapes thrive in a rather cool climate also has a major impact on the ripening of the fruit. This results, among other things, in particularly long and evenly formed grapes and a more moderate alcohol content in the wine. When perfect physiological ripeness is ensured, the grapes for the Diamond Heart Blanc de Blanc Sparkling are harvested exclusively by hand, without the use of rough, non-selective mechanical harvesters. After picking, the grapes are brought to the press house as quickly as possible. There they are sorted and gently pressed. Fermentation of the base wines then follows. After blending the cuvée, further maturation takes place on the basis of the méthode traditionnelle. The Marisco Diamond Heart Blanc de Blanc Sparkling then matures for several months in the bottle and is finally disgorged.

Food recommendation for Marisco Diamond Heart Blanc de Blanc Sparkling

This New Zealander is best enjoyed well chilled at 8–10°C. It pairs perfectly as an accompanying wine with almond milk jelly with lychees, leek soup, or blackberry cream dessert.
