Domaine des Sénéchaux's ruby red Chateauneuf-du-Pape is full of warm spice and unfolds an inviting aroma of red and black berry fruits. A stately body supports the lush palate with finely nuanced flavors of cherry jam, licorice and Provencal herbs, as well as spicy toasty notes.
Domaine des Sénéchaux is one of the oldest wineries in the Châteuneuf-du-Pape appellation. Its landmark is a 14th century ruin of the castle of the Avignon popes. At this estate, the current owner, Jean-Michel Cazes, who also owns the great Bordeaux house Château Lynch-Bages, produces an outstanding cuvée of distinguished splendor. The Domaine des Sénécheux Rouge is composed of Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre and Vaccarèse-Cinsault.
Vinification of the Chateauneuf-du-Pape of the Domaine des Sénécheux
Domaine des Sénécheux Rouge was made from 52% Grenache, 28% Syrah and 20% Mourvèdre grapes aged in a combination of concrete vats (15%), foudre (50%) and wooden barrel (35%).
