More information about Les Jocasses Gigondas AOC - M. Chapoutier

The powerful Gigondas M. Chapoutier shines with a dense purplish-red into the glass. When swirling the glass, this red wine reveals a high viscosity, which is evident by the strong tears on the glass rim. This French cuvée exhibits wonderfully expressive notes of blueberries, blackcurrants, blackberries, and mulberries in the glass. Additionally, hints of dark chocolate, oriental spices, and cinnamon are present.

The M. Chapoutier Gigondas impresses with its elegantly dry taste profile. It was bottled with an exceptionally low residual sugar. This is a true quality wine that clearly stands out from simpler varieties, and, of course, this French wine delights with fine balance despite its dryness. Aroma does not necessarily require much sugar. Bold and complex, this dense red wine presents itself on the palate. In the finish, this youthful wine from the Rhône Valley region finally impresses with notable length. Once again, there are hints of blackberry and mulberry. In the aftertaste, mineral notes from the soils dominated by sand and marl come through.

Winemaking of the M. Chapoutier Gigondas

This powerful red wine from France is made from the grape varieties Cinsault, Grenache, Mourvèdre, and Syrah cuvée. The grapes grow under optimal conditions in the Rhône Valley. The vines here root deeply in soils composed of clay, sand, limestone, and marl. The Gigondas is an old-world wine through and through, as this Frenchman exudes an extraordinary European charm that clearly underscores the success of wines from the Old World. When physiological ripeness is achieved, the grapes for the Gigondas are harvested exclusively by hand without the help of coarse and less selective grape harvesters. After manual harvest, the grapes are quickly transported to the winery. They are sorted and gently crushed. This is followed by fermentation in stainless steel tanks and large wooden vessels at controlled temperatures. The fermentation is followed by aging for several months on the fine lees before the wine is finally bottled.

Food pairing recommendations for M. Chapoutier Gigondas

Enjoy this French red wine ideally at a temperature of 15 - 18°C as an accompaniment to braised cabbage rolls, stuffed peppers, or roasted veal liver with apples, onions, and balsamic sauce.
